Losing Your Parents

How many of us have been in the position where you don’t know what to say to a grieving friend or loved one?

In the past two years, my brother and I have lost both of our parents unexpectedly. Most recently, Mom left us suddenly a couple of weeks ago.

It's an empty feeling. There are waves of grief. Yet the lessons are profound.

What I’ve realized is that I failed every single person that struggled with loss prior to experiencing it myself.

I was afraid to trigger that person or remind them of their loss.

Working through this process has taught me a great deal about how to connect with and lift someone up in their darkest time.

This week is a personal video about the experience of loss and what you can say and do to truly support someone facing the difficult, yet inevitable reality of losing a parent or loved one.

If you’re grieving the loss of a loved one right now, I’m sending you all kinds of love to get through this time.
